MANIFESTING A MAGICAL VISIT WITH FRIENDS – THE MIDDLE

So…a little detour.

I had planned three days in New York City upon my friends’ arrival before heading home to Connecticut. I wanted to take them all around the landmarks, parks, museums and restaurants, absorbing the energy and having fun.

Then, the weather failed us.

HOW IT STARTED

Less than two weeks before their arrival, I somehow felt not so perfect about my plans. The feeling wasn’t pure excitement. Something about staying in the city as soon as they arrived felt odd and I wasn’t mustering up excitement in time to change it.

Next, my husband said, “Are you sure you want to stay in the city as soon as they arrive? The weather won’t be great.”

Hmm…

I SAID, “WE ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME IN THE CITY, WHENEVER IT HAPPENS!”

One day before my full booking refund expired, we decided to cancel the hotel reservations and the train tickets to move NYC until the end of their trip. Rain was scheduled for two days after their arrival, making the prospect of walking around the city with their four-year-old daughter difficult.

However, it did happen in time to get a full refund. This was a manifestation of something being postponed only to have an even better experience later!

DAY ONE WORKED OUT AS THEY PREFERRED

Our arrival to Connecticut was welcomed by my friends after spending three hours in the customs line. They wanted to rest and were happy to avoid the pressure of having to sight-see on day one. The trip was going to start off with a bang, as I had originally planned, but it started quietly, as they ultimately preferred.

However, their first impression of the US still resulted in a few hours of seeing NYC. Before taking the train to Connecticut, we had some time to walk around. We glanced at Empire State Building. A Rangers game was taking place that evening, and the frenzy around Madison Square Garden was contagious in the best way. When we arrived home to Connecticut, my husband was watching the game on TV.

Even thought she hadn’t spent much time around cats, my friends’ daughter connected with our nine-month-old kitten almost immediately. Our dog gave her kisses and I made her cocoa with cinnamon and almond milk.

My ultimate goal was to have a great time on their visit, so I accepted that the order of events was just a small detail in the big picture manifestation. It was all working out in the way to manifest a great time for us, even if I didn’t know the order of events. It was important to trust the process and trust it was all working out in the way to maximize our fun!

FROM DAY TWO, IT WAS SMOOTH SAILING!

After my friends had some rest, we went to a playground which their daughter loved. We visited an aquarium and enjoyed a sea lions show. We chose restaurants whose child-friendly policies and amenities were impressive. We went to a dinosaur-themed amusement park, ate an array of artisan desserts and enjoyed home-made pizza. We traveled to Boston for a day and visited the beach in Rhode Island.

Yet the most fun part of the trip was still ahead of us.
